rPET for bottle-to-bottle applications

With POLYMETRIX rPET bottle-to-bottle technology, post-consumer PET bottles are processed into washed PET flakes (bottle chips) and pure rPET pellets. This technology is used when rPET is produced independently of a virgin PET plant.

POLYMETRIX can offer the individual process steps as well as complete solutions including material logistics.
Post-consumer PET bottles are collected as part of a deposit, return or separation system. The bottles are shredded in PET washers, subjected to intense surface cleaning, and sorted. The resulting PET flakes are the input material for the next process step in POLYMETRIX bottle-to-bottle rPET process.

The process consists of an initial extrusion step with melt degassing and melt filtration, followed by pelletizing and a decontamination step in an SSP plant, respectively an SSP process under nitrogen.

The SSP leaN concept is preferred because of the typically lower capacities of rPET plants. Extrusion and SSP are either associated with melt-to-pellet crystallization or remain independent operations.
