Solid state drying and conditioning
POLYMETRIX offers drying and conditioning processes for all types of polymers. Drying involves reducing the moisture content below a certain value. The process usually requires relatively short residence times of a few hours. Conditioning, on the other hand, involves residence times of 10 to 20 hours. drying and conditioning processes involve drying to equilibrium moisture content within a narrow moisture range. Drying and conditioning systems from POLYMETRIX are usually installed directly before subsequent process steps such as the spinning process.
POLYMETRIX's two-stage drying and conditioning processes are characterized by high drying capacity with minimum energy consumption and drying time. In-house developed fluid bed, roof and column dryers enable optimized drying systems for a comprehensive range of materials and capacities.
- PET is rapidly preheated and dried within three to four hours to a final moisture content below 20 ppm.
- PA is first heated and pre-dried and then dried within 10 to 20 hours to an equilibrium moisture content in the range of 300 to 1000 ppm.
